AT THE DAHLIA FARM

Floral

A new collection of floral artworks to 2024 & 2025.

A note from the artist:

"Flowers seemed like the perfect subject to start working on once I was ready to take a step away from animals. My mother is a florist, so from a young age I have grown up surrounded by florists. Some of her friends were also florists, including my godmother whose shop I used to visit regularly and I was usually given a Sunflower or Gerbra to take home.

Her mother (my nana) used to paint the most beautiful watercolour flowers, I remember running into her little arts & crafts room upstairs in her home when I was younger.

I have an amaryllis in my home that belonged to my father's mum (my granny), and it still blooms multiple times a year. It all makes so much sense that I now focus on them in my artwork.

All of this sounds lovely right? yes, but they dont live forever. Nothing does.

Flowers have had a special place in my life, and I thought this must be similar for lots of other people.

So I thought I would try and 'immortalise' them as such. My drawings will outlive most of our flowers, im always worried that my grannies amaryllis will stop blooming. So I will be drawing it so it is always in my home, being adored. I hope I can share this with as many as possible, and bring some lovely flowers into your homes.

Starting with Dahlias (my favourites!) I have visited a local grower in Oxfordshire, and ofcourse me and mum ended up buying a load of flowers! I have photographs the many varieties and I am pleased to say all of my artworks will be coming *Mostly* from my own photography too."
